GlassWallet – Google Glass App for HelloWallet
Company: HelloWallet (2010-2015)
Role: Researcher, Product Design, Video Editor & Director, Glass App Engineer
Introduction
In 2013 I was lucky to be nominated by Google to be an early part of their “Glass Explorer” program. This meant that I was given the Google Glass product, provide feedback, and build applications for the Glass AR (augmented reality) platform.
At the same time, HelloWallet was attempting to sell licenses of our financial guidance products to Google, so they could offer HelloWallet as a free benefit to employees. We wanted to show that HelloWallet was an innovative technology company that was thinking about future interfaces for financial advice.
So I set out to develop a Glass App that would integrate with HelloWallet’s budgeting feature. My goals were…
demonstrate and build an MVP product for Google Glass.
create a verbal command vocabulary that allowed users to ask questions about their budget status
present data with insightful, focused visual's that would reduce frivolous spending

The product was never intended to be fully supported, but was more of a side project I worked on. It was available for Google Glass before my Chief Architect had me deprecate it for API dependency issues. Eventually, this demo and app was shown to Google's benefits committee to fast track buying HelloWallet for Googler's. Google signed an initial contract shortly afterward :-).
